Kylie Patricio
Traditional Acoma design on a polychrome jar

Born into Acoma Pueblo in 1999, Kylie Patricio is the daughter of Robert and Melanie Patricio. She started putting her hands in clay early in life and by the time she was 13 years old, Kylie had already earned First and Second Place ribbons in the Youth Division for Pottery at the Santa Fe Indian Market, making her parents extremely proud. She's also earned an Honorable Mention award since. She counts her father and her older sister Felisha as her primary teachers, but everyone in her family makes pottery.

Kylie's favorite shapes to make are, in her words, "tall and long." She also says her favorite designs are built up of fine lines. Like her sisters, Kylie says she gets her inspiration from her father.

When she's not busy making pottery, Kylie said she likes to snowboard, ice skate, hike, travel and sleep. As the second oldest of Robert and Melanie's daughters, she told us she has to try harder. We see that in the beautiful works she brings us. And she is very proud to be an Acoma woman potter, working to preserve her people's traditions.
